As of late, my favorite Rudiment has, and although it's hard to admit, it's changed. If you know me or my car - you know how I love all things diddle. But with the newly found desire to challenge and be challenged, I get it all and more from the flam rudiments. Come on...if you don't wince just a little at the idea of trudging through them all - ya lie! Slow and methodical is the way. Taking Dr. Wooton's advice, play them each hand individually - Start with the Flap if you're all ready somewhat familiar. Break it down, hand by hand....and then remember as you start to utilize them around the kit or in your playing - they don't all have to be played at once. Pop em' in with a drum beat or swing them . They are a straight up good time if you allow them to be.
